Peak Periods
"Peak Periods" are those times of the season when there is the highest demand for electricity. The high demand period can account for as much as 50 percent of the wholesale cost of electricity. These "peak" periods generally occur in the late afternoon or early evening of the coldest days of the winter season and on the hottest days of the summer season. Although this is the time of most "peaks", a peak can occur in the morning or late at night.
