Welcome to People's Energy Cooperative!

We are excited you are now a member-owner of the Cooperative and look forward to serving you.  Please look for a welcome packet to arrive in the mail in early August with important information including the following key items that are important for you to know or actions you may need to take to ensure a smooth transition.

 

Meter Reading & Equipment Inventory

Please note that People’s Energy Cooperative employees and contractors will be reading meters and taking inventory of equipment. If your meter is in a location that requires special entrance (i.e. behind a locked gate, inside a building, requiring a key, etc.), please contact us immediately to make special arrangements.

 

Updating Account Information

Due to privacy laws, Alliant could only provide limited information to us about your account. In order to best serve you, we need accurate and expanded information. In early August you will receive a welcome packet that contains a Statement of Membership. It is important that you review it carefully for accuracy. To update account information and take advantage of other valuable services, please complete and return the Account Update Form in the yellow postage-paid envelope that will also be included in the packet. If only one person is listed on the Statement of Membership then your membership is a single membership. If two people are listed, then it is a joint membership. Only people listed as members are authorized to discuss account information, vote, and receive capital credits. To change a membership status from single to joint or joint to single, both people involved must sign on the signature line.

 

Enrollment Forms

If you would like to utilize any of the following programs you must complete the appropriate enrollment form, as that information was not transferred with your account from Alliant:

Automatic Payments | Simply complete the Automatic Payment Authorization section of the Account Update Form  when you receive your welcome packet to take advantage of this service.

Sales Tax Exemption and Electric Heat Sales Tax Exemption | You must file a Certificate of Exemption Form (ST3) with PEC by August 14, 2015, to be exempt from tax on your first bill. This form is available under ‘Forms’ on our website or, upon request, we can mail it to you.

Medical Alert Authorization | If you use life monitoring and/or support equipment, your physician must complete and sign a Medical Alert Authorization Form to authorize you to be placed on our Medical Alert Priority List for power restoration. This form is available under ‘Forms’ on our website or, upon request, we can mail it to you.

Operation Round Up | All cooperative members are automatically enrolled in our Operation Round Up program. Visit the Operation Round Up page under the "Community" section of the website to learn more about how the program works. If you do not wish to participate in this valuable community program, please indicate your desire to opt-out on the Account Update Form.

 

Please note that if you enroll in our Automatic Bill Pay Plan or elect to receive your bill electronically by end of business day on October 30, 2015, you will be entered into a drawing for one of 25 $30 bill credits! Enroll in both and you’ll be entered twice!

 

Billing

Your first bill from People’s Energy Cooperative may only reflect two to three weeks of service due to billing cycles based on service areas. Subsequent bills will be for a full month of service and you can elect to receive your bills electronically.  Click here for a brochure to help you better understand your bill.
