Love social networking? Like making new friends from across the country? Do politics and history excite you? Then come and experience a week in our nation’s capital. This all-expenses paid trip to Washington DC will be the highlight of your summer! This learning and leadership event is held in June each year. Experience the wonder of Washington, DC; meet your senators and representatives; learn about rural electrification on the local, state and national level
s; tour historical sites and landmarks.
To be eligible, the student shall meet the following requirements:
- Student is currently a high school junior or senior, and, his or her parent/guardian is a People's Cooperative Services member. Dependents of People's Cooperative employees and directors are not eligible to participate.
- Shall complete 25 question exam and answer both essay questions.
- Shall agree to be present and speak at the People's Cooperative Services Annual Meeting after participating in the Youth Tour.
- All entries shall include: a) the completed application form below; b) answers to both exam and essay questions.
- Applications and all required paperwork shall be returned to: People's Cooperative Services, PO Box 339, Rochester, MN 55903-0339,
Essay Questions for Youth Tour:
- If you are selected, what do you expect to gain from the Youth Tour experience?
- What have you or your family done to conserve energy in and around your home? Why is it important to be energy efficient?
School and Community Information:
Entries will be evaluated for: Completeness, composition, neatness, ability to communicate, and school and community activities. All qualified applicants who meet the criteria will be notified by mail in late February.
